Job Activities

Job Purpose:

  • To lead and direct the Finance department ensuring effective monitoring of all financial and accounting activities as well as management of returns from operators and airports sector fund, in line with applicable standards and regulations, as per our client’s overall strategic direction.

 

Activities:

  • Design and implement Finance Department’s strategy and roadmap in alignment with the organization strategy as defined by the BoD
  • Establish Finance Department’s plans that support its overall strategic plans
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify Finance Department’s required initiatives to meet future business demands
  • Manage and drive the achievement of Finance Department’s strategy, objectives and KPIs within the accountabilities of the Department
  • Prepare and present regular reports on Department’s progress and outputs to be shared with relevant stakeholders in line with reporting requirements
  • Manage Finance Department budgeting cycle and provide input to the budgeting process
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of Finance Department’s policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering high quality and cost-effective results
  • Lead and direct the management of change through continuous improvement of Finance Department’s systems, processes and practices taking into account leading practices, changes in international standards and changes in the business environment
  • Monitor day-to-day activities to ensure compliance with stipulated policies and procedures
  • Oversee the development of annual financial plan and planning models
  • Guide the execution of benchmarks to understand the key performance measures used to assess the financial performance of our client’s various clusters / airports and set their financial performance goals accordingly
  • Provide financial advice and support to direct reports ensuring solid financial planning and adequate financial control for our client’s activities thereby ensuring positive impact on our client earnings and development
  • Direct the preparation and generation of high quality budgets, work programs and estimates for review by main stakeholders within our client’s subsidiaries
  • Set asset management policy and financial investment plan in order to enhance returns and mitigate risks on our client’s financial investment portfolio
  • Oversee, monitor and report on returns from operators and ensure alignment of actual with forecasted revenue
  • Direct the establishment and operations of airports sector fund to finance future growth and development plans
  • Set a clear financial assessment and evaluation criteria for our client’s various clusters / airports, and ensure the availability of systems, tools and governance to manage and control the assessment and evaluation activities
  • Oversee and guide the development financial reporting dashboards and tools for the efficient and robust reporting of our client’s financial performance and its subsidiaries
  • Oversee and lead the revamping, improvement and enhancement of our client’s accounting systems and processes
  • Review accounting reports and information prepared by the accounting team to ensure efficient and accurate execution of book-keeping, accountancy and related reconciliations for all our client’s activities
  • Ensure cooperation with external auditors to enable compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Oversee insurance related activities in order to ensure all assets are covered with adequate insurance coverage
  • Review cash flow forecasts, cost controls and expenses and guides business leaders towards optimum utilization of our client’s resources
  • Help instil a culture of development, guidance and performance within Finance Development Department
  • Guide, mentor and develop the Finance Department’s team to take larger and complex responsibilities
  • Identify and recruit key talent for the Finance Department
  • Provide clear top-down communication to employees and bottom-up feedback to Top Management
  • Set performance objectives, provide necessary support, evaluate / appraise direct reports and provide regular feedback on performance
  • Establish a high-performance working environment within the Finance Department

Required Skills

Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance / Accounting or any relevant discipline
  • Master’s Degree in Finance is preferred
  • Professional Accounting or Finance Certification (CMA, CPA, CFA, etc.) is preferred
 

Experience:

  • 12 to 15 years in financial management or investment function, preferably in Aviation Sector
 

Other:

  • Strong understanding of local and international accounting regulations (SOCPA, IFRS etc.)
  • Knowledge of fund and investment management
  • Awareness of stakeholders within Aviation Sector
