We are seeking a highly qualified Tourism Expert Advisor to join our team in Saudi Arabia. As a Tourism Expert Advisor, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the auditing and establishment of a code of quality for all industries associated with tourism and hospitality in the country. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in the tourism industry and possess the expertise to provide guidance on the implementation of globally recognized standards and guidelines, including those set by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), for hotels, tour operators, and other related businesses
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement policies and procedures: Design and establish comprehensive policies and procedures that align with globally recognized standards and guidelines, including those recommended by the UNWTO, for all industries associated with tourism and hospitality in Saudi Arabia.
- Oversee auditing and quality assurance: Ensure that rigorous auditing processes are in place to assess and monitor the quality of services provided by hotels, tour operators, and other tourism-related businesses. This includes conducting regular inspections, analysing data, and identifying areas for improvement based on international best practice.
- Provide guidance on industry standards: Serve as a subject matter expert, offering guidance and support to tourism industry stakeholders on the implementation of globally recognized standards and guidelines, including those set by the UNWTO. This may involve conducting workshops, training programs, and consultations to enhance industry practices and compliance.
- Regulatory compliance: Ensure that all policies and procedures are up-to-date, in line with globally recognized standards and guidelines and compliant with local regulations governing the tourism and hospitality industry in Saudi Arabia.
- Collaboration and coordination: Collaborate with various departments, including government entities, tourism boards, and industry associations, to ensure effective implementation and adherence to established policies and procedures based on international best practice standards. Foster strong working relationships and maintain open lines of communication with relevant stakeholders.
Key Competencies & Skills:
- Leadership: Demonstrate effective leadership to motivate and manage a team of engineers, technicians, and production staff in the aerospace field.
- Deep understanding of manufacturing processes and operations, including lean manufacturing, quality control, and supply chain management within the aerospace industry.
- Technical knowledge in engineering, aerospace materials, and aerospace systems.
- Excellent communication skills to interact clearly and effectively with employees, customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders in the aerospace sector.
- Proficient problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve issues promptly, often within tight deadlines.
- Strategic thinking capabilities to develop and implement strategies that enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and increase productivity in manufacturing.
- Project management expertise to oversee complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, tight schedules, and budgets.
- Thorough understanding of regulatory compliance within the industry, ensuring adherence to regulations and standards in manufacturing processes.
- Strong commitment to continuous improvement, constantly seeking opportunities to optimize processes, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency within manufacturing.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Tourism or a related field: A strong educational foundation in tourism or a closely related discipline is required to understand the complexities of the industry and effectively advise stakeholders.
- At least 5 years of experience in the tourism industry: Prior experience in the tourism industry, with a focus on quality assurance, policy development, or industry standards, is essential to succeed in this role. A track record of working with globally recognized standards and guidelines, including those recommended by the UNWTO, is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of global standards and guidelines: In-depth understanding of the standards and guidelines within the tourism and hospitality industry is necessary. Familiarity with other international standards, such as ISO standards and sustainable tourism practices, is also valuable.
- Excellent communication skills: Effective communication, both written and verbal, is vital for conveying complex concepts, delivering training, and building relationships with stakeholders at various levels. Fluency in English is required, and proficiency in Arabic is highly advantageous.
- Ability to work independently: The role requires self-motivation, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to work autonomously. You should be able to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
