Clinical Research Associate (Ph.D)
The overarching aim of the postdoctoral fellowship is to develop talented and skilled health researchers during the postdoctoral stage of their research career. There is a particular emphasis on the application of analytical techniques to registry data to answer research questions, ultimately impacting on health policy and clinical practice. This fellowship will support the researcher through a mentored postdoctoral period, offering an opportunity to progress along the research career Journey.
The Main Objectives
- To enhance the capability of the researcher at postdoctoral level, particularly during the progression towards conducting more independent research
- To progress the NISR research programme, by working closely with the Head of Research and other NISR collaborators.
- To contribute towards the NISR data collection programme (when required) and participate in the continued development of the NISR data software.
Training
Training and professional development activities should support the individual to develop a research career and take an active role in applying research findings to policy and practice in the local, national and international context. To that end, a personal training and development plan will be agreed with the mentor. This will include:
- Formal and informal career development training
- Research skills training specific to the project
- Data analysis / statistical training
- GDPR and ethical issues
Renumeration would be in accordance with the published Irish Universities Association published scale for an early-stage researcher.
A working knowledge of R and Python would be an advantage.
Main Duties
Main duties would be to manage and analyse registry data to
- improve patient outcomes and care,
- enhance operational efficiency and support decision-making processes.
- maintain compliance with standards e.g. GDPR, EHDS, and in future ISO
- work with the various registry platforms and carrying out data quality checks
- documenting processes, maintaining records, preparing reports
- collaborate with other researchers and contribute to publications
