Director of Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) for Military Aircraft (Tax Free)

Job Summary:

The Director of Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) for Military Aircraft is responsible for overseeing the MRO operations of military aircraft within our organization. This role involves managing a team of engineers, technicians, and production staff to ensure that MRO processes are efficient, cost-effective, and maintain the highest standards of quality and safety. 

Reporting Line: Operation VP 

Division/Function: Aerospace 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement MRO strategies and plans to meet division goals and objectives. 
  • Manage the MRO schedule to ensure timely and efficient maintenance, repair, and overhaul of military aircraft. 
  • Oversee the design and development of new MRO processes and procedures to enhance productivity and quality. 
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and safety protocols in the MRO operations. 
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement and logistics, to ensure the availability of necessary resources for MRO activities. 
  • Maintain and improve quality control processes to meet or exceed customer expectations and regulatory requirements. 
  • Manage budgets and resources effectively to optimize the cost-effectiveness of MRO operations. 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth MRO operations and customer satisfaction.

Key Performance Indicators:

 

  • MRO Production Output: Measure the quantity and efficiency of maintenance, repair, and overhaul activities. 
  • Quality Control: Monitor adherence to quality standards and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. 
  • Cost Control: Evaluate and manage costs associated with MRO operations to optimize resource utilization. 
  • Commitment & On-time Delivery: Track the ability to meet commitments and deliver MRO services on time. 
  • Safety: Maintain a safe work environment and minimize the occurrence of safety incidents. 
  • Customer Satisfaction: Assess customer feedback and satisfaction levels with MRO services. 
  • Stakeholder Management: Ensure effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders to meet their expectations. 

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field. 
  • Preferred Master’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent. 

Certifications: 

  • Relevant certifications in MRO operations, such as FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification, are highly desirable. 

Experience: 

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a related role, preferably within the military aircraft MRO industry. 
  • Extensive technical experience in military aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul, including a comprehensive understanding of aircraft systems, components, and avionics. 
  • Proficient in interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings related to military aircraft MRO. 
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance best practices, troubleshooting techniques, and diagnostic tools used in the military aviation industry. 
  • Experience in managing complex MRO projects, including coordinating with OEMs, subcontractors, and maintenance crews. 
  • Proven track record of successfully leading technical teams and overseeing MRO operations for a variety of military aircraft types. 
  • Familiarity with military regulations and requirements related to MRO, such as DoD standards and military airworthiness criteria. 
  • Understanding of reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) principles and experience in implementing preventive maintenance programs. 
  • Knowledge of software systems used in MRO operations, such as computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and aircraft health monitoring systems.
