(Defense) Strategic Defense Sourcing Senior Manager - (TAX FREE)

Position Overview:

The Strategic Sourcing Senior Manager is responsible for developing and implementing sourcing strategies to ensure the procurement of high-quality materials and services at the best possible cost. This role involves leading a team of sourcing professionals, managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The Strategic Sourcing Senior Manager works closely with various departments to align sourcing strategies with organizational goals and drive continuous improvement in the supply chain. 

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Sourcing: 

  • Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans to meet the company’s objectives for cost, quality, and delivery. 
  • Conduct market analysis to identify sourcing opportunities and assess supplier capabilities. 
  • Lead the development and management of a strategic supplier base. 

 

Supplier Relationship Management: 

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers. 
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions. 
  • Monitor supplier performance and implement improvement programs as necessary. 

Cost Management: 

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through strategic sourcing, negotiation, and process improvements. 
  • Develop and manage budgets for sourcing initiatives. 
  • Track and report on cost performance against budget and implement corrective actions as needed. 

Compliance and Risk Management: 

  • Ensure sourcing activities comply with industry regulations, such as ITAR and FAR, and company policies. 
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to address potential supply chain disruptions. 
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements. 

Team Leadership: 

  • Lead and mentor a team of sourcing professionals. 
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities and performance. 
  • Set clear performance objectives and conduct regular performance reviews. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration: 

  • Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, and other departments to ensure sourcing activities meet their needs. 
  • Support new product development and other strategic initiatives by providing sourcing expertise. 
  • Communicate sourcing strategies, goals, and performance metrics to senior management and other stakeholders. 

Process Improvement: 

  • Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance sourcing processes. 
  • Leverage advanced sourcing technologies and tools to improve efficiency and decision-making. 
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and innovations to drive continuous improvement

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. 
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in strategic sourcing or procurement within the defense industry. 
  • Strong knowledge of sourcing best practices, contract management, and supplier relationship management. 
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and standards, such as ITAR and FAR. 
  • Proven track record of successfully leading sourcing strategies and achieving cost savings. 
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills. 
  • Proficiency in sourcing software and other relevant technologies. 
  • Ability to think strategically and execute operationally, balancing short-term needs with long-term objectives.
