Job Role:

The Senior Manager – Senior Manager – Electronics & PCB Commodity sits on the Commodity leadership team responsible for developing and executing the overarching Commodity strategy for the Electronics & PCB Commodity. This role will oversee a team of Supply Chain professionals focused on strategic sourcing, establishing long-term framework agreements and ensuring alignment with the company’s goals and programs plans. This role is ideal for a strategically minded and results-oriented procurement professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to driving excellence in the Commodity management team  

Key Accountabilities:

Commodity Strategy Development: 

  • Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive commodity strategy that drive value creation, cost savings and risk mitigation. 
  • Monitor and analyses the commodity markets, global economic conditions, supplier landscapes, and industry benchmarks to inform strategy and decision-making. 
  • Awareness and implementation of Commodity tools and process to create a robust strategy to support the dynamic landscape of the Organisation 
  • Turn strategy into operational reality and drive results 

 

Team Leadership and Development: 

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Supply Chain professionals focused on strategic sourcing and commodity management. 
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative environment that encourages continuous improvement and professional growth. 
  • Support the Commodity Director with wider business initiatives 
  • Ensure that the function operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of self, staff and visitors. 

 

Strategic Sourcing and Execution: 

  • Oversee the end-to-end strategic sourcing process, including supplier selection, RFx process, contract negotiation and establishing strategic framework agreements for Direct Commodities requirements. 
  • Ensure that all procurement activities align with the programs plans and its development, supporting the company’s long-term objectives and customers’ commitments. 

Contract Negotiation: 

  • Lead the negotiation and establishment of long-term contracts and strategic framework agreements, ensuring they are in place to support the strategic goals of the organisation. 
  • A solid understanding of negotiations strategies to secure favourable outcomes for the business 

 

Stakeholder Engagement: 

  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including Engineering, Finance and Operations teams, to ensure alignment on the Commodity strategy and objectives. 
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Operational and other relevant departments to set up contracts that facilitate seamless execution by the respective teams. 
  • Good influencing skills and able to manage a variety of relationships both horizontally and vertically 
  • Be a change agent for Supply Chain 
  • Work closely with SCM Program Managers to ensure Procurement activities are actively monitored and provide comprehensive reports to ensure the Team socialise within the IPT.

 

Performance Monitoring and Reporting: 

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of the Commodity strategies and team performance. 
  • Provide regular updates to Senior management on procurement activities, achievements and areas for improvement 
  • Manage risk proactively within the Supply Chain incorporating the use of risk registers / Kraljic methods and regular review with high risk suppliers 
  • Experience of implementing Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) techniques / tools with Suppliers (RMMs, Score Cards, Monthly Performance Reviews (MPRs), Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), Communication Plans, Supply Chain Resilience, etc)

Qualifications: 

  • Masters Degree (Preferred): A Bachelors or Masters degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g. CIPS, CPSM)  

 

Knowledge 

  • 10+ years of experience in a senior procurement role with a focus on strategic sourcing and Commodity management. 
  • Aero / Defence exposure and experience would be highly beneficial 
  • A good understanding of Export Control (including EAR) and INCOTERMS associated with moving material within the Aero / Defence Industry 
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing and developing high-performing teams. 
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement processes, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management. 
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills. 
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to drive change and deliver measurable results. 
  • A robust understanding and comprehension of Contract & Law 
  • Experience and demonstrated performance in Electronics and PCB environments 
  • Robust analytical and numerical skills 
  • Good presentation skills and be able to confidently present to Senior Management 
  • Experience with Conflict resolution and solution generation 
  • Experience with working in Start Up companies 
  • A robust understanding and demonstrated experience with SAP & SAP Ariba 
  • Good understanding of Inventory Management 
  • Awareness of Logistics processes 
  • Excellent time and organisational management 
  • An excellent and confident communicator
